An anniversary special

The celebration continues!

Please help me to celebrate the first anniversary of the release of THE SILVER STAR CAPER, 6th book in the Damien Dickens Mystery series.

From now until September 4th, all six books in the series are available in the US for 99¢ each and in the UK for 99p each.

Take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the adventures of Damien and Millie Dickens.

From The Silver Star Caper (Damien Dickens Mystery, Book 6)

TSSC ebook coverMillie ate lunch at her desk as she sorted through the mail. One item in particular—a plain, white envelope with no return address—caught her attention. It was addressed simply to PO Box 1042, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921. The stamp was canceled with a Salinas postmark. She turned it over in her hands. The back flap also was blank.

She reached for her letter opener and slit open the envelope, finding nothing but a paper coaster inside. She tilted the envelope so that the coaster slid out, landing right side up on her desk blotter.

The thick, white absorbent paper was square, with rounded corners. A thin red line about one-quarter inch from the edge bordered the printed area. “The Silver Star Bar and Grille” was spelled out in blue lettering at the top of the printed area, with the address near the bottom. In the center was a replica of the medal for which the bar was named.

Holding the coaster only by the edges, she examined it under a strong light, her pulse quickening with anticipation. She rummaged in her desk drawer for a soft pencil and carefully ran the side of the lead back and forth over the underside of the coaster. As she worked, a pattern of what looked like runes took shape.

This was the private code she and Damien had practiced. The message was short, and she read it with ease, smiling to herself. She would learn more on her return from San Diego. For now, it was enough to know that Damien had made contact, and that she would be seeing him soon.

The Silver Star Caper. A Damien Dickens Mystery

After a string of arson fires drives migrant farm workers from their homes, Damien goes undercover to infiltrate the white-supremacist, neo-Nazi militia responsible for the fires and unmask the identity of their leader.

Left alone to run their detective agency during Damien’s absence, Millie Dickens dives into an investigation of a local resident she suspects of being a Nazi war criminal in hiding.

The action is non-stop as Damien and Millie risk their lives to eradicate the spectre of violence and racism from their community.
